Finally they find the transaction

This starts with them still denying the transaction exists, and then finding it (surprise my bank did not just make it up).

They try to sell me another ticket, I explain that they are more expensive than expedia & I want my money back.

They also say

"Thank you for booking with us.
There has been a refund processing fee as per our terms and conditions outlined in your
original email confirmation, and the balance amount will appear on your credit card statement within 3-5 business days."

OK 2 things ...
  1. The money took 5 days to be returned
  2. I NEVER GOT AN EMAIL CONFIRMATION .... NO BOOKING WAS MADE
So they returned $14,840.36 out of $15,401.38 'cos
  1. the exchange rate has changed
  2. they charge me some fee BECAUSE OF PROBLEMS WITH THIER OWN SYSTEM

I think that
  • Destina probably should not have put thru the initial AUTH for $15,401.38 until the actual tickets were booked by them.
  • Even if they did, when their request for tickets failed, their system should have IMMEDIATELY and automatically reversed the bank AUTH.
  • Should have returned all my money 'cos all the issues were at their end ...
